A Web3 communication web application used for secure contact within the web3 ecosystem to shield users against fraud and wallet compromise while keeping users communication secured on the blockhain.
Addressing Security & Usability in Web3 Communication
In 2022, the Garnerly team identified significant challenges faced by users in the Web3 ecosystem, primarily around security breaches, complex communication channels, and financial losses. The existing platforms, like Discord, presented complex UX problems that hindered users from navigating efficiently and managing their interactions effectively. Recognizing these issues, our team set out to create a solution that would provide a user-friendly and secure environment, tailored to the unique needs of the Web3 community.
INTRODUCING GANERLY
Garnerly is an innovative platform designed to empower blockchain users by enabling them to connect globally, securely, and transparently. The platform serves as a hub for creators, protocols, blockchain experts, traders, and enthusiasts to gather comprehensive information and share unbiased opinions on all things decentralized. Garnerly aims to make Web3 communication secure without compromising on usability.
PEOPLE PROBLEM
As decentralization grows, the Web3 ecosystem faces the challenge of managing secure and efficient communication. Users often encounter phishing attempts, compromised identities, and complex onboarding processes. Traditional communication solutions, built on Web2 technologies, fail to meet the security and autonomy expectations of the blockchain community. The need for a secure, user-friendly communication platform that aligns with the principles of decentralization became evident.

Communication Flaws in Current Solutions
SOLUTION
Creating a Secure and Intuitive Communication Platform.
Garnerly was designed to offer the safest community experience without requiring users to alter their mental models. By using wallet IDs (e.g., MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Phantom Wallet) instead of traditional email and password logins, we ensured that users remained in control of their security, keeping their wallet keys intact. This approach minimized the risk of hacks and spam while retaining the familiar UX patterns of existing messaging platforms.
RESEARCH
We conducted research to identify main challenges users faced with compromised communication and frequent security breach. By analyzing competitors, brainstorming with our team, and interviewing users, we identified key issues and user needs. This research guided the design of Garnerly to improve user experience, security, and functionality.

COMPETITOR ANALYSIS
I conducted a comprehensive audit of existing Web3 communication platforms, including Discord, Status, Console, and WalletChat. This analysis provided valuable insights into the pain points users faced and highlighted areas for improvement.

COLLABORATIVE BRAINSTORMING
I collaborated with the team in a series of brainstorming sessions, where I shared insights from the competitive analysis. These sessions led to feature prioritization and idea generation for Garnerly V1, ensuring that our solution was both innovative and practical.

USER INTERVIEWS
I conducted interviews and surveys with some users in the Web3 ecosystem, using online meetings (Google Meet) to gather detailed insights into their daily challenges. This helped me to understand their pain points and expectations in shaping the direction of our solution.
Solving the Right Problems
The research phase underscored the importance of addressing the core issues of better UX flow, security, and user autonomy. We also identified a need for a learning hub where users could gain a deeper understanding of blockchain concepts.
Simplifying the User Experience
We redesigned and simplified existing complex interfaces, improving UX patterns by integrating Web3 technologies into familiar workflows.
Implementing Web3 Authentication
By replacing traditional email sign-ups with wallet-based authentication, we enhanced security and streamlined the onboarding process.
Creating a Learning Community
We developed a space within Garnerly for users to learn about blockchain terminologies, DAOs, and access current information, making the platform a comprehensive resource for Web3 enthusiasts.
DESIGN EXPLORATION
I collaborated closely with a team of designers and developers throughout the design process for Garnerly, using the agile methodology of sprints and daily stand-ups. Together, we planned, developed, and reviewed the product in stages, consistently iterating and providing feedback on wireframes and designs to ensure that the platform met user needs and aligned with our overall vision.
Product showcase
Users can now sign up on Garnerly with a single click by connecting their wallet, bypassing the need for passwords. The first connection triggers an onboarding walkthrough, introducing key features and streamlining the user experience with a secure, hassle-free entry.
We've integrated Garnerly Academy within the app to educate users on Web3, supporting one of our core goals identified through research. Now, users can access Garnerly on the go and deepen their Web3 knowledge, fostering community development.
We designed intuitive UX flows for chatting and joining communities on Garnerly, mirroring familiar patterns from platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram. This approach leverages existing user mental models, minimizing the learning curve and ensuring a seamless transition to Garnerly.
